The American Polish Cultural Center was proud to host a special Movie Night on April 18, 2026, featuring a screening of Afterimage (Powidoki) in honor of the 100th birth anniversary of legendary Polish filmmaker Andrzej Wajda.
The evening brought together members of the community for a meaningful celebration of Polish cinema, culture, and artistic legacy. With a wonderful turnout and strong community support, the event served as a heartfelt tribute to one of Poland’s most influential directors.
This memorable program was made possible through a valued partnership between the American Polish Cultural Society, The Kosciuszko Foundation Michigan Chapter, and the Polish-American Federal Credit Union. Their collaboration helped create an evening that reflected both cultural pride and community connection.
Guests also enjoyed unique desserts provided by Tiny Indulgence, adding a special touch to the night. The American Polish Cultural Center extends sincere thanks to the APCC staff for their efforts in helping make the event such a success.
The program was opened by distinguished speakers whose remarks helped set the tone for the evening:
George Kurzatkowski, President of APCC/APCS and CFO of Polish-American Federal Credit Union; Barbara Wisniewski and Annette Raczkowski, Co-Presidents of The Kosciuszko Foundation Michigan Chapter; and Richard Walawender, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland in Detroit.
We thank everyone who joined us for this special occasion and helped honor the legacy of Andrzej Wajda. It was a beautiful evening celebrating Polish film, history, and community.
