From a medical perspective—or more specifically, through the eyes of an ophthalmologist—the term “Afterimage”refers to images that linger in one’s field of vision even after looking away from an object. Afterimage is the final film by the master of Polish cinema, Andrzej Wajda. It portrays the final years of Władysław Strzemiński, a pioneer of the Polish avant-garde in the 1920s and 30s.
