Discover the Polish Library at the American Polish Cultural Center

Located in the heart of the American Polish Cultural Center (APCC) in Troy, Michigan, the Polish Library is a hidden gem for book lovers and those passionate about Polish culture and literature. With nearly 5,000 titles, the library features works by Polish authors, including classics, contemporary novels, biographies, and some translations of popular English-language works.

Library Highlights:

  • Hours: Open every Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
  • Collection: Books by prominent Polish authors, including works by Olga Tokarczuk, Wiesław Myśliwski, and Jacek Dehnel
  • Book Club: The “Mak” (Poppy) Book Club meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month, fostering discussion and friendships among its members
  • Free Use: Library membership is free, with a lending limit of three books for new users and increased access for returning members

Volunteers & Community:
The library is run by a team of passionate volunteers who maintain the collection and catalog, ensuring the library remains a vital cultural resource. Visitors also have the opportunity to meet avid readers like Andrzej Cybiński, who read an impressive 108 books last year!

Support & Donations:
The library continuously updates its collection through purchases, funding from APCC, and donations. Surplus books are shared with the community for free during library hours, and both book and monetary donations are welcomed.

Reader Interests:
Over the years, readers have shifted their focus to well-written novels and biographies, preferring contemporary Polish literature with engaging narratives over historical works once restricted by censorship.

Whether you’re looking to explore Polish literature, participate in engaging book discussions, or simply meet others who share your love for books, the Polish Library at APCC is a welcoming space for all. Visit us on Wednesdays to discover this cultural treasure!
