In honor of the 100th anniversary of his birth, Poland has officially designated 2026 as the Year of Andrzej Wajda. To celebrate his extraordinary talent and lasting impact on world cinematography, we are bringing the festivities to our local community.

Please join us on April 18th for “A Movie Night with Andrzej Wajda.” We will be hosting a large-scale projection of his final masterpiece, Afterimage (Powidoki). The film will be presented in Polish with English subtitles.

Admission is FREE, but because space is limited, we kindly ask that you RSVP to secure your seat.

Drinks and finger bite food will be available for purchase.

From a medical perspective—or more specifically, through the eyes of an ophthalmologist—the term “Afterimage”refers to images that linger in one’s field of vision even after looking away from an object. For example, if you stare at a bright lightbulb and then turn away, you will continue to see its outline for several seconds, often in contrasting colors. This is an afterimage.

Afterimage is the final film by the master of Polish cinema, Andrzej Wajda. It portrays the final years of Władysław Strzemiński, a pioneer of the Polish avant-garde in the 1920s and 30s.
